Getting started
International students are welcome to join Stint! The key requirement is to have the right to work in the UK, as indicated on your visa. During sign-up, you'll need to provide your valid Home Office share code, which we use to confirm your right to work. When your right to work expires, we'll request your new share code.
To be eligible for Stint, you must be 18 years or older and have the Right to Work in the UK.
While no experience or CV is required, we're looking for individuals who are comfortable working in customer-facing roles and can show us they are passionate about delivering a great customer experience at our Partner businesses.
We ask everyone to submit a short 30-60 second selfie video introducing themselves and explaining why they'd be a great fit for Stint.
And don’t forget your first few Stints serve as a first impression too!
While prior experience in hospitality can be helpful, the most crucial aspect for success with Stint is your customer service aptitude and work ethic. This means a mix of showing your bubbliness / personality, taking initiative, following directions, and being a team player! We value hard workers who contribute positively and give their best effort. So, even if you're new to hospitality, your willingness to learn and adapt is what truly counts.
Nope! You don't need to provide your CV to use Stint.
Nope…
But wait! Whilst there's no interview, we do require every user to upload a 30-60 second selfie video. As Stinters play a crucial role in our Partner businesses and the majority of our Stints involve direct customer interaction, we need to make sure we find the right people that show us they are smiley, enthusiastic, charismatic and proactive.
We're on the lookout for applicants who are:
- Positive and enthusiastic: Smiley, energetic team players.
- Proactive and charismatic: Show initiative and have a bubbly personality.
- Customer-focused: Committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Adaptable: Comfortable working in fast-paced environments.
It's also important to remember that your first few Stints act as a first impression. So, showcasing a great attitude (like you would in an interview) is the key to building a successful profile.
Uniform requirements vary by business and role, and will always be displayed clearly in the app. It will always be a range of these hospitality basics:
- Black / white t-shirt
- Black / white formal collared shirt
- Black jeans
- Black formal trousers
- Black trainers
- Black formal shoes
Just check the uniform details provided in the app before accepting any Stint, and turn up looking (and smelling!) fresh!
Absolutely. You're free to have another job whilst using our platform. Just pick the Stints that fit your schedule, and commit to the ones you accept!
Stint has been designed for students who are looking for a flexible way to earn some extra cash alongside their university studies. Our short shifts, typically lasting 2-4 hours, are ideal for those who can make a regular and consistent commitment to work a few times a week for a minimum of 3 months at a time. We usually offer around 6 hours of guaranteed work per week.
Please note that Stint offers you supplementary income, either alongside studies or another job, not a primary source of income. If you're seeking full-time work, one-off shifts, or a consistent high income, Stint may not be the right fit for you.
Creating an account
Creating a Stint account is simple! Just head over to the App Store or Google Play, download the Stint app, and follow the on-screen instructions. We'll ask for some basic details like your name, date of birth, and university details if you're a student.
You’ll need to provide documentation that shows your eligibility to work in the UK. If you’re a UK / Irish passport holder, you’ll need your UK / Irish passport. Make sure you have it physically with you so you can take a live picture of it. If you’re a non-UK / Irish passport holder, you’ll need your Home Office share code.
Thanks for getting started with Stint!
Firstly, make sure you've completed the work experience survey and uploaded your selfie video. When Stint Team opportunities are available, they'll appear in the 'Teams' section of your app.
All you need to do is apply to the Stint Teams that catch your eye! Successful applicants are notified within 1-2 weeks.
The waitlist is a way for us to manage the influx of new users and ensure that Stinters already on the platform get a fair share of Stints. As our Stinter community expands, the availability of Stints is influenced by the number of businesses we partner with in your city. So, while on the waitlist, keep an eye on your app and emails. When Stint Team openings become available in your city, we'll notify you!
There are regular opportunities to join Stint Teams, so keep your eyes peeled for Teams invites in your app and email inbox!
When you apply for a Stint Team that suits you, you’ll be asked to submit a short 30-60 second selfie video to show us why you’d be great at Stint - it’s the perfect time to stand out from the crowd.
We really hope you can join us soon!
Booking Stints
Stints are designed to fit around your university schedule. Most Stints are between 2 and 4 hours long and often cover the busy peaks in a restaurant's day, but you can also find longer Stints of up to 8 hours.
To help you plan your day, the Stint app clearly displays the duration of each Stint before you accept it, and you'll be fairly compensated if you work any overtime.
Most Stint Teams require you to complete at least 2 Stints per week for a set number of weeks (usually around 6-8 hours per week for 12 weeks). But don’t forget! The great thing about Stint is it enables you to choose when and where you work.
Roles and responsibilities
The exact tasks you'll perform in your Stints can vary depending on the specific business and role. However, most Stints are Front of House (FoH) roles, where you are directly in contact with customers. These roles are essential to keeping our business running smoothly during peak times!
Here are some of the most common tasks:
- Welcoming customers
- Washing dishes
- Running food and drinks
- Polishing glasses and unloading the dishwasher
- General cleaning and tidying
- And much more!
Remember, the more Stints you do at your favourite businesses, the more skills and opportunities you’ll get.
Stint roles vary, and you'll always find clear descriptions on the app outlining the primary and secondary tasks you're expected to do.
While these offer guidance, they're not always set in stone. If there are additional ways you can help out on the day, collaboration is key! Businesses always appreciate a proactive Stinter, and they'll be more than willing to provide direction on how you can help.
When you're on a Stint, you're a part of the team! A positive attitude with coworkers, managers, and customers is essential. If you work well within the team and provide a great service, you'll get top ratings, more offers, and make the most of your Stint experience!
When you head to your Stint, you become part of their existing team! This means collaborating with core staff and sometimes other Stinters.
While many Stint roles involve individual tasks, you're contributing to a wider team effort that keeps the business running smoothly.
Making a good impression and getting top ratings will lead to more offers from the same businesses! It's a great opportunity to create positive working relationships with a team, making your Stint experience even more rewarding.
Performance and feedback
We have a star rating system in place that Stinters and businesses use after every Stint. Businesses rate your performance based on:
- Charisma, positive attitude and customer service
- Efficiency completing tasks
- Initiative
- Presentation
You'll be working in the same space as customers and other members of staff, so it's super important to be looking (and smelling!) fresh!
If you receive a low rating from a business, our Support Team offers a feedback call, so you can gain more understanding and get tips for doing better next time.
We strive to maintain a balanced system that considers the Stinter experience, while delivering the trustworthy service that businesses are looking for.
Achieving top ratings isn't just about your performance during Stints. Reliability is crucial, and our 3 strike system helps track that! To maintain top ratings, make sure you:
Arrive promptly: Always be on time to start your Stints. Punctuality is appreciated by both the businesses and our team.
Uniform: Wear the correct uniform as stated in the app for each Stint.
Complete your Stint: Stay for the entire duration of your Stint.
Cancellations: Never cancel Stints. You can swap with other Stinters in your Team if needs be!
By excelling in both performance and reliability, you'll be on the path to receiving those 5* ratings.
Yes! We understand that rating your experience can feel just as important as businesses rating your performance. Our in-app rating system provides platform for Stinters to let us know if any issues arise, and what could have been better.
We monitor the ratings that businesses both give and receive, so if there are repeatedly low ratings, or concerns shared by Stinters, we reach out to the business.
Safety and security
When you arrive at a Stint, a general manager will usually walk you through any specific health and safety protocols they have. Your personal safety is a top priority. Through our rating system, Stinters have a confidential platform to voice any concerns if they arise. We actively monitor the ratings given by Stinters, and if there's a shared concern, we reach out to the business and investigate further.
Payment
Our competitive hourly rates for Stints vary depending on the Stint Team you join - simply check the Team’s details when you apply in the app. There are also plenty of opportunities to unlock bonus rates (with Stint Boost) along the way when you ace your weekly Stints.
If you are part of a Stint Team: Get paid the following day of your Stint! We’ve partnered with Onsi so Teams Stinters can withdraw up to 70% of their earnings the day after they complete a Stint. Any earnings that are not cashed out will be transferred automatically as part of our standard weekly pay process (detailed below).
Standard Stinters: After your Stint(s), you’ll get paid on the Friday of the following week. For example, if you complete any Stints Monday - Friday, your payment will be processed and sent to you on Friday of the next week. For any weekend Stints, your payment will also arrive on that next Friday! To make sure everything runs smoothly, make sure your bank details are correct when you create your Stint account.
Getting in touch
Reaching out to us is a easy with our Live Chat feature in the app. Just head over to your 'Account' tab, tap on 'Help', and you'll spot the Live Chat option ready for your queries!
We'll keep you up to date via the email you provide during sign up. For more Stint content, don't forget to follow our Instagram (@stint.uk) and TikTok (@stintuk)! They're packed with all things Stint-related to keep you in the loop.

Flexibility is at the heart of Stint, and always will be! As a Stint Team member you become a central member of a business, so once you have accepted a Teams Stint, you cannot cancel it. Please double check your other commitments before you join the Team and start accepting Stints!
The minimum number of weekly Stints you need to complete varies depending on the Stint Team you join - this information will be included in your Teams invite in-app and will be explained during an intro call.
In a Stint Team, you could be earning up to £15 an hour! You can either withdraw up to 70% of your pay the following day, or choose to get paid on the following Friday of your Stint.
Hourly rates vary depending on the Team, so be sure to read the invite carefully before you apply.
The responsibilities on our Stints vary depending on the business and role, but the majority are customer-facing and simple but vital to the running of the business during their busy peaks in the day.
You'll be able to see the exact list of tasks for each Stint in your Stint app. Here are some of the most common tasks:
- Greeting customers
- Polishing glasses
- Polishing cutlery
- Refilling tap water
- Clearing tables
- Setting tables
- Loading and unloading the dishwasher
- Sweeping the floor
Don't worry, we'll give you a Taster Stint at the business when you first join, so if you don't like it you're not expected to stay!
If you choose to remain in the Team after the Taster Stint, you’ll be expected to fulfil the terms in the invite.
Yes you can!
Most of our Stint Teams require you to complete a minimum of 2 Stints a week for a minimum number of weeks, so make sure you can fulfil your current commitment before you apply to others.
Once you have accepted a Teams Stint, you cannot cancel it. As a Stint Team member, you become a key member of staff for the business - they will invest a lot of time into supporting and training you. This makes cancellations very difficult for us to refill which has an unfair, negative impact on the business.
If you encounter an issue, please contact our Customer Support Team as soon as possible.
Once you have completed your Taster Stint and joined the Team, you must complete the weekly Stints you have committed to.
After you have completed these Stints for the specified number of weeks, there will often be an opportunity to continue or leave the Team if you would prefer.
